Mass Evacuation Simulation Exercises in the Philippines

Date Publish
The Mass Evacuation Simulation Exercises conducted by IOM Philippines reenacted the mass migration of displaced persons in the event a catastrophic earthquake hits the region. Equipped with Go Bags and a magnified sense of urgency, 100 families from Pateros, a small municipality in Metro Manila, traversed through evacuation routes developed in close planning with the local government. From duck-cover-hold procedures to camp setup and management, beneficiary families and local government responders simulated the expected scenario of an earthquake response, ensuring that families are prepared for evacuation and responders are prepared to assist.
